Be a VINA Hero! Donations are desperately needed due to the critical need for blood at this time, your donation will be greatly appreciated. Remember the live(s) you save may be that of your own family members, friends, or neighbors. Not to mention if you ever need blood you hope that someone else does the same for you. It's quick, painless, and will make the difference in up to 3 lives per pint of blood. Please give the gift of Life and Be a true Hero
While the current bylaws reflect eleven board positions, we had twelve volunteers that stepped forward to serve. The incoming board intends to make a review of the association’s governing documents, including board composition and related provisions, a top priority. Resolving this inconsistency promptly and transparently will help ensure that the association’s governance structure accurately reflects the needs of the community, remains flexible and in compliance with state statutes governing non-profit organizations. We hereby introduce your new VDMIA Board Members:
Terri Grocott – President
Kathy Kasper – Vice President
Ted Teele – Treasurer
Melinda Pletcher – Communications Secretary
Cora Herb – Recording Secretary
Directors - At Large: Roger Bear, Dean D’Adamo, Jenna Coven Perman, Sherri Kelly, Heather Riley, Thomas Sims, and Lidia Tatarsky
VDMIA members are welcome to sit in on the meeting. Congratulations to our new Board Member and Directors

The Vina Del Mar Island Association has partnered with Pinellas County to bring a Haz-To-Go mobile collection truck to the island. This event is free and is a convenient way for residents to safely dispose of and recycle chemicals and electronics, such as old computers, TVs, paint, fluorescent bulbs, or fertilizer. Staff will remove items from your vehicle. The Mobile Collection Truck - which will be clearly recognizable - will be located at the Vina Del Mar Park cul de sac and will be manned by Pinellas County Haz-Mat Collection specialists. We recognize that having this event on a weekday mid day is not the most ideal - however it was the only option available to us as Pinellas County does not have current staffing to accommodate a Saturday event at this time. We hope that as many as possible will be able to take advantage of the drop off point.
Expect minor traffic delays on East and West Vina, including the 21st Ave bridge as the half marathon travels across the island.
Maddie Zolfo, of neighboring Treasure Island, started running late in life, at 31 years old. By the time she was 45 years old, she had achieved status as an elite, long distance Masters runner. Among her many achievements, Maddie won the Sarasota Marathon, won the New York City Half Marathon, took 3rd place, age group, at the Boston Marathon, and took first place female, while establishing Master's course records, at the Tallahassee 50 Miler and the Croom 50K. Maddie broke three hours at both the Gasparilla and Kiawah Marathons.
Maddie passed away in July of 2016, at the age of 51 years old, and this race honors her passion and commitment to running, to her friends and to life.
Due to the pandemic this event was postponed last year and to coincide with tax season this year we are happy to announce the return of this very appreciative event.
