Committee Roles and Responsibilities (as needed):
Fundraising (Ways and Means) The Fundraising Committee generates ideas and creates programs to raise additional monies needed to fund specific capital projects and/or activities and events suggested by the Events Committee for the benefit of Vina association members. All fundraising activities will require board approval. In even-numbered years in which the Directory is being updated, this would include securing directory advertisements to offset the cost of the directory if the Board so deems. Methods could also include fundraising events/sales and the creation of VDMIA themed items (if the Board so deems). It is reasonable to expect that when ‘at large’ fund raising is needed, that all Board Members will be asked to participate in the execution of the plan.
Budget & Finance The purpose of the Budget and Finance Committee is to maintain the fiscal stability and long-term economic health of the VDMIA. The Committee provides oversight of fiscal management and guidance to the VDMIA Board. In partnership with the President, it establishes and oversees the budget of the Association and ensures that it is supportive of and fully integrated with the plans and mission of the VDMIA.
Nominating/By-Laws The Chair of this committee will serve as 1 of the 3 people appointed by the President to serve on the nominating committee. When updates to the by-laws are needed in order to ensure the efficient, effective, and legal operation of the Board, this committee will write and present the suggested changes/amendments to the Board for review prior to being put forth to the VDMIA membership for approval at the next membership meeting.
Events This committee ensures that VDMIA board approved events are planned and run successfully for the benefit of association members. The chair of this committee will be called the ‘Event Committee Chairperson’ and will coordinate the event volunteers and identify an ‘event lead’ for each VDMIA approved event. The volunteers for that event are responsible for planning, organizing and running that specific event per Board event guidelines. The ‘Event Committee Chairperson’ does not necessarily have to run (or participate in) each event but they do need to take responsibility to ensure that the needed number of volunteers are in place so that the event is completed successfully. Any new events or activities that the committee wishes to add to the VDMIA calendar are presented to the board for acceptance/approval so that the appropriate budget can be allocated.
Welcome This committee is responsible for encouraging and increasing association membership as well as for meeting and greeting new homeowners to Vina. This chairperson will also coordinate the team of Street Captains to assist with Welcome Committee meet and greets as well as other neighborhood 'footwork' needed by the VDMIA Board.
Beautification This committee is responsible for the upkeep of the beautification (maintenance, upkeep, and occasional flower planting) of the area around the Vina Del Mar on-island message sign (at the corner of 21 st Ave and West Vina) and Arch monument in the park, and seasonal décor etc related to the 21st Ave entryway.
